About the series:
The series is inspired by Janette Okeâs bestselling book series about the Canadian West. âWhen Calls the Heartâ tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coalmining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges. Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) who believes Thatcherâs wealthy father has doomed the lawmanâs career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnateâs daughter. Living in a turn of the century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.
My husband and I love this series. It has truly been a captivating story. I’ve been given the opportunity to watch the Season 2 premiere a little early and give a little review. I’ve not done that, but I will be shortly. However, I’ve also been given the opportunity to host a giveaway of the Season 1 DVD set for my blog readers! So, here you go!

No, I haven’t seen it!! I love the Hallmark channel around the holidays. I guess I don’t really think of tuning to that channel at other times of the year.
I absolutely love this show! I love the story line and the characters are romantic, sweet and some not so nice. Its never boring and Im so excited about the 2 hr show next weekend. Thank you for the chance đ
