Review: The Price of Valor by Susan May Warren

The Price of Valor, Susan May Warren‘s newest release (and third novel) in the Global Search and Rescue series, is a Christian romantic suspense. A riveting story from start to finish, The Price of Valor takes the reader across the globe in search of a kidnapped woman.

Jami Reviews The Price of Valor Susan May Warren

Hamilton Jones and Signe Kincaid were close childhood friends, and later married. Their love story was not one built on a foundation of normalcy. They had each had their own problems in childhood, and they’d bonded because of their dysfunctional families. Soon after they married, Ham deployed as a SEAL and soon after, Signe secretly became a CIA operative. When Signe never returned home and went silent for many years, most of Ham’s friends and colleagues believed she had died, but Ham never lost hope that she was alive.

Out of the blue, a ten-year-old girl flounced into his life, presenting Ham news that she was his daughter and carrying a warning from his wife—the same wife who’d disappeared from his life ten years before. Knowing that danger was imminent, former Navy SEAL Ham Jones wasn’t about to sit on his haunches and let the chips fall where they may. He was going to get answers, no matter the price.

“I don’t sit on my hands and wait.” ~Hamilton Jones

My Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed Hamilton Jones and Signe Kincaid’s story. Heartbreaking yet endearing, Ham and Sig’s story has a foundation of true love that overrides the hurdles and barriers they face. Faith and redemption are key themes, and Susan employs them harmoniously.

The title choice is fitting; all throughout the story, the price of bravery is demonstrated. The reader can expect lots of action, emotion, and intensity in The Price of Valor. Danger follows on the heels of Ham and his colleagues at every turn, and Susan effectively locks the reader into a front seat on the characters’ rollercoaster ride.
